CEAGESP manages 13 wholesale centers of horticulture produce and flowers, with one in the capital and 12 in the interior of the state. Rendezvous of producers and sellers, these units operate as regional production distribution channels for street markets, supermarkets, wholesale markets, restaurants and distributors of horticulture produce. Located in the cities of Araçatuba, Araraquara, Bauru, Franca, Guaratinguetá, Marília, Piracicaba, Presidente Prudente, Ribeirão Preto, São José dos Campos, São José do Rio Preto, Sorocaba and São Paulo, the centers contribute to the outflow of harvests while moving the wholesale and retail market, reducing the costs to consumer.
The Capital’s Center is the most important in the country and among the largest in the world in terms of commercialization volume. Over 10 thousand tons of fruits, legumes, vegetables, fish and flowers pass through its gates everyday, supplying over 60% of the Great São Paulo region. It commercializes the most varied products originating from 1,500 cities of 23 Brazilian states, as well as 18 countries. The to-and-fro of vehicles and people in this little town never stops, and after commercialization, loaded trucks leave the capital to replenish the population in the state as well as other states.
In its 700 square meters, the Capital’s Center receives about 10 thousand vehicles, and from 30 to 50 thousand people per day. Together, the wholesale centers of CEAGESP sell about 350 thousand tons of products per month.
